Testimonials

“This was exactly what I'd been looking for before my first two years of college - it's full of excellent advice to help incoming freshman (or returning students) feel a bit more prepared for the chaos that is to come.”

– Amy Gorman, college junior

"I'm a mom of two daughters, one in college and another getting ready to go soon.  Lily's e-book, "The Green Dorm Room" helps me so much to organize my thoughts on what to get for my daughters and how to educate them without beating them up about the importance of living a healthy life.  It really is each person's responsibility to find their way in this overwhelming world, and this book helps make it not so overwhelming."

 - Deborah Walker, Practitioner's Assistant & mother of a high school senior and a college sophomore at Pace University

"This book is an absolute necessity for anyone who is college-bound.  In addition to being extremely practical and informative of green living away from home, it explores the bigger picture of what it means to be green.  In addition to advice about healthy beauty products and laundry detergent, it also reaches out to the person who will be using them, pointing readers in the direction of self-love and harmonious living.  While college is a blast, it sometimes leaves us over-indulged and unbalanced.  Berthold-Bond's words are a breath of fresh air, and offer crucial wisdom to all aspiring green students."

– Marysa Sheren, sophomore at Tufts University

"This is one of the most complete college guides/lists that I have come across. I sincerely wish that I had the chance to read it before my freshman year. Whether you are "green" or not (I am not), this is a great read. Many things most college freshmen would never think about are included. And please, heed her advice: Be yourself."

- Gavin Boehm, junior at Binghamton University

“Although I already knew a lot about being green before buying my son’s dorm stuff last year, this eBook is full of advice I didn’t know.  And the shopping list is great!  It would have saved me a lot of time and hassle last year.  Great book!”

- Len Tischler, business professor & father of a sophomore at Syracuse University

Now, I know what you’re probably thinking – a green dorm room? Won’t that be expensive? And overwhelming?

Nope. It won’t be.

What if I told you I have no doubt that you can create your own green dorm room as cheaply and easily as you could a regular, non-green one? I bet you’d go for the green version, now, wouldn’t you?

I’m just going to assume that you’re answering, “Yes, Lily, of course I would! Green’s mad cool, yo.”

Oh, good. I’m so glad you think so! I have just what you need – firsthand tips, baby.

With this info in hand (or, I suppose, on hard drive? – or these days, on iphone …), you’ll have a hard time not being green.

INDOOR AIR TIP FOR THE GREEN DORM ROOM:

Dorm rooms are small and enclosed.  Especially in the winter, with the heat going full blast and no windows open, the air quality of your dorm room can be hazardous.  And spraying Lysol, Febreze, or Axe – or using a plug-in air freshener – only makes it more hazardous. I’ve literally almost keeled over after walking into some people’s rooms! My secrets for boosting indoor air quality in a healthy way are all in The Green Dorm Room.

ERGONOMICS TIP FOR THE GREEN DORM ROOM:

In college, you’ll spend hours and hours a day at your laptop . Do your neck and back a favor: I know a product that raises your laptop so that you sit up straighter at your computer.  It also cools the hard drive to prevent overheating.  It’s highly packable, too – it fits easily in my backpack with all of my books and my laptop.  You can find this laptop wonder, along with all of my other green dorm essentials, in The Green Dorm Room.

Let me venture a guess: you’ve had a hard time finding an authoritative, extensive, all-inclusive shopping list for college – let alone a green one.  And, let’s face it, a good college shopping list is kind of crucial in your preparations.  So, what’s a pre-frosh to do?

Never fear! I’ve got your back.  I have an all-encompassing green dorm room shopping list for you, with how-to tips for how to go green with each item on it.  My eBook also has over 50 pages of thorough, detailed information for creating your ideal, entirely green dorm room. It is a substantive guide that helps you go green within various categories. Here's the table of contents, so you can see for yourself:

This is the only extensive, authoritative green dorm room shopping list out there – I’m not including the one I found that includes cloth napkins, homemade quilts, and soy candles among its “dorm” necessities.

No, this ebook includes practical information from a college junior who has successfully created and lived in a green dorm room for two years.

Shall I take a question, perhaps? Like, “Lily, how do I know you’re legit?”

Ahh, a good question, my friend.  Well, as it so happens, I have literally a lifetime of experience in the field of green.  My mother (Annie B. Bond) was chemically poisoned in her twenties and is a world expert on green-living.  Our house was (and is) an entirely non-toxic haven, so I grew up constantly living and learning green.  And:

You are in the ideal situation.  You are ahead of the curve: you’ve got the all-inclusive green college shopping list that will help you create the most desirable dorm room on campus.  Your room will be a trendsetter. Plus, you’ll be living in a non-toxic, energy-efficient, natural haven.

What more could you ask for?

After all, green is the word, nowadays.  You can’t take a walk around campus without seeing people wearing shirts or bags that command, “GO GREEN.” Green is the trend, it’s the scene, and you can jump on the bandwagon with a green dorm room.

Everyone is going to think your room is the coolest thing since sliced bread.  But you’ve got a leg up on them with this eBook – lucky you!

And don’t worry; I won’t leave you hanging when you get to school, either. Green isn’t just about picking healthy products and materials; it’s also about having a healthy state of mind.  I have lots of advice for you on

BEDDING TIP FOR THE GREEN DORM ROOM:

Please choose your bedding material carefully! Certain fabrics don’t breathe at all - one common bedding material basically wraps you in a plastic bag: your body’s moisture can’t escape (and we lose about 216 grams of water every 6 hours when we sleep).  It also gives off positive ions, which increase serotonin in our brains.  Excess serotonin can lead to depression, nausea, and insomnia – not ideal in your bedding. Find out what this fabric is, along with my green bedding alternatives, in The Green Dorm Room.

But I bet you’re still a little skeptical – maybe you have another question? Like, “hey, Lily, you say it’s cheap and easy to stock your green dorm room, but I don’t quite believe you. I want proof!”

Well, to you I say this: if you know what to look for (which you will), you can find almost all of your green dorm essentials for ridiculously cheap in one store – I know I did, and I reveal my secret in my ebook.  The rest (mostly natural beauty and body care products) I got at the health food store. A two-stop trip is just about as easy as you can get when it comes to college shopping.

Also, the shopping list is organized into sections based on where you will find the items in the store so that you don’t start running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to find everything.  This way, it’ll be smooth sailing when you are actually in the store. I know, I know – I’ve got your back, no need to thank me :).

Plus, eBooks have so many benefits!

You can get The Green Dorm Room for only $6.95.  Remember, you’ll be getting an all-inclusive green shopping list and dozens of pages on how to go green in college – information you can’t get anywhere else.
